Your Directional Empowerment

Where do you feel most comfortable within your home ? You may notice you feel more drawn or favour some spots over others, For example you may have a favourite seat in the living room or you may be drawn to a certain part of the house. This brings to mind the U.S. TV hit comedy series ‘The Big Bang Theory’ where the character Sheldon gets bent out of shape if anyone takes his seat.

The Science:

Well actually there is a science behind why we choose one spot over another. Through the science of Vastu and Vedic astrology, we are able to calculate your personal compatibility with the different areas of your habitat. Thereby giving you ‘directional empowerment’.

Vedic Astrology:

Discover where you are best supported and nourished by the planets and elements in your immediate environment. Your Own Personal Direction is one of eight compass points within any given space where you feel at your best, most empowered and happy. This is calculated using the placement of the Moon planet within a particular nakshatra or constellation in your birth chart

Choose Your Space:

Of the eight compass points; four will be positive for you. One being your Own Best Personal Direction and the three other which also support and nourish you, but decrease in their ability to do so as they move away from your own direction. The remaining four directions may make you feel challenged in your daily activities.

In which direction of the building do you spend many hours of the day at work or at night in bed? If you have the luxury of choosing the area in the house or building where you spend most of your time, then of course you would want to be in your Own Personal Direction as much as practically possible.

If you are going to spend long periods of time in a specific space you can become aware of how these energies influence you. With this knowledge you can make informed decisions about the way you use the areas of your home or building wherever practically possible. Wherever you are in the world, and whichever building you reside in, you can use this same information as a guideline.

Here’s an example:

if North is your Own Personal Best Direction then how would you feel in all the other directions? See below the tendencies or inclinations which might manifest by additional factors. There is of course no need to fear or avoid certain directions but we can interpret this data as hints to solve present situations and avoid future difficulties :

North: gain, happiness, success +

Northeast: comfortable, financial power +

East: mental happiness, agricultural wealth, fame +

Southeast: illnesses, use of medicine, loss of health –

South: difficulties because of enemies, political agitation –

Southwest: hostilities without reason, expenses, agitation –

West: riches and wealth through food, happiness, success +

Northwest: fear of death, agitation, responsibility for accident –

Your Nakshatra also reveals your Vedic animal and symbol. The Quality

The planet Mars represents the active emotional and vital projections of the self towards the outside world. It is the active male pole, personifying strength, courage and enthusiasm. Without its influence, no interest, passion or determination will ever develop. Mars is the planet of deed, and encourages mechanical abilities, self confidence, endurance, organisation and leadership qualities.Astrologically Mars mainly affects brothers and relationships between friends and associates whereas within the residence it mainly affects females of the family.

In the home this area is well suited for a bedroom. It also works well for a living room, a fireplace area and is also a good place for electric installations and storage.
In fact heavy storage here can minimise the negative qualities of Mars on a karmic level!
It is a good idea to keep this area clean and tidy.
You can offer the gemstone coral to Narasimhadev and place it in the South should a suitable place be available.

Third Basic Energetic Law of Vasati- 6 Practical Ways to Ensure Positive Energy Flow

We have mentioned the 12 Vasati laws in the introduction of twelve laws for successful healthy living. Here we are describing the Third of the Four Energetic Laws in more detail. There are always many questions about the scientific foundations of Vastu, by understanding these Vasati Laws we can come to appreciate the authenticity of this science. The Third basic Energetic Law of Vasati follows on from the First and Second Energetic laws and it demonstrates the strong and weak areas in any given space.

Strong and Weak Areas; This principle addresses the qualitative difference between the life strengthening directions of the North and the East and the two energetically weaker directions of the South and the West. Accordingly, each side of a square that is parallel to the cardinal points can be divided into strong and weak energetic points.

On each side, the Northern and Eastern half is energetically stronger than the Western and Southern half.
Each side of an energy field has a strong and weak half. The Northern and Eastern half is always the stronger than the Southern and Western half.
Thus on the East side, the Northeastern point is energetically stronger than the Southeastern point.
The same principle applies to the West side, where the Northwestern point is energetically stronger than the Southwest.
The Northern side of the Northeastern half is energetically preferable to the Northwest point.

From this simple basic rule, important practical conclusions can be deduced to help regulate the energy influx within a building, plot or a site.

6 Practical Ways to Ensure Positive Energy Flow

Roads that directly aim at a site are to be seen as positive if both meet in a strong area.
Roads that meet in a weak area are considered negative.
Dead end roads and roads which make a right angle turn in either one or both directions, directly in front of the building site or house are also negative.
Entrances, doors and windows should preferably be in the strong areas of a house or a room. This ensures that mainly positive energies flow into your building or plot.
Doors are seen as positive when they are in a strong part of the house and their energy flows parallel to the East-west or North-South axis. While Feng Shui considers it not positive to put doors and windows opposite each other, Vasati sees it as positive based upon this third natural law.
Conversely, energy flow along the the sub-direction diagonals, e.g. Northwest to Southeast are deemed negative.

Kurmadev Yantra

The Quality:

The Western direction, under the powerful weight of Saturn, is the cosmic disciplinarian. Yet a deeper understanding and experience of this direction’s influence brings wisdom and maturity. Saturn is considered to be a malefic among the main planets, if it is manifesting its negative aspects, while its positive aspects are of great importance, especially to spiritual life. It bestows one with discipline and renunciation, and fosters solitude and asceticism. It confronts man with suffering and pessimism and represents time. It brings all things closer to their natural ending or death. It can be felt anywhere where things degenerate, are being destroyed or lose their power. A strong Saturn is the basis for everything which should last in this world, awarding a good reputation, fame and scholarship abilities. Whereas a weakened Saturn may lead to delays and depression. This direction mainly affects sons within the home or junior male staff within the office.

The Vastu-To Do’s

Used for heavy storage. The negative or used up energies that are associated with this direction should ideally be ‘weighed’ down, i.e. with heavy storage.
Cold and damp storage is also fine

The West is suitable for the following room functions at home and at the office:

My Vastu journey began in 2000; at that time in my life I felt trapped and constantly frustrated with the stagnation in all levels of my life and was eager to try anything to help my situation feel more positive. When a friend recommended I try a Vastu (Indian Feng-Shui) consultation I jumped at the opportunity. I had the full works, having the consultant install the twelve Vastu Yantras and the Meru chakra and Vasati pyramid in my home with mantras.

Following the consultant’s advice, I made adjustments to my external environment and immediately began experiencing what I can best describe as a ‘clearing’ in my life.

During the ceremony, a large cheque dropped through my letter box. It was money owed to me that I had given up hope of having returned. Was it a coincidence? All I know is that the mantras were doing something positive, I could feel it.

To my surprise and delight, following the consultation a multitude of further positive events unfolded. I moved to a new desired place of residence and my finances improved drastically. I became hopeful and excited, could this be the beginning of something better?

The Vastu consultant made a remark that really struck a chord within me. He explained that the negative aspects in our space are merely reflections of the stagnated or blocked energies within ourselves. We attract a space, room, house, or apartment that matches and supports our subconscious mind, our beliefs, the way our chakras work, and ultimately our karma. In other words, our space supports who we are.
